Life at our center

Don’t hesitate to get in touch with us. Let’s create beautiful memories together!
Our daily routine
We start our day bright and early at 5 a.m. with our spiritual practices. This peaceful morning routine helps us awaken our spirits and set a positive intention for the day ahead.
Throughout the day, you can participate in a variety of enriching experiences, including meditation sessions, workshops, and time for personal reflection. Spirituality is at the core of our daily life. We come together two times a day to practice meditation and chant kirtans. These shared moments foster a deep sense of community and uplift our spirits.
If you’re looking to deepen your meditation practice, our experienced acharyas (spiritual teachers) are here to provide personalized guidance. They’ll help you find your unique rhythm and enhance your meditation journey.
Food and Accomodation
At Uma Nilayam, we prioritize nourishing our bodies with sentient food—wholesome, plant-based meals that enhance our energy and vitality. Our delicious dishes are crafted with care, using fresh, locally sourced ingredients to fuel your spirit and body.
We also observe fasting days to help reconnect with ourselves and find inner peace. These special days offer a wonderful opportunity for introspection and renewal.
Our rooms are cozy, because we want you to feel at home as you recharge your batteries.
Our Garden at Uma Nilayam
This is what we consider the heart of Uma Nilayam—the garden! Spanning an impressive 6000m², our garden is more than just a space; it’s a vibrant ecosystem where nature thrives and nourishes us.
If you would like to give your support in this project, you can:
In the garden, you’ll find a delightful array of fresh fruits and vegetables that you can enjoy during your stay. From juicy olives and crisp apples to sweet cherries and figs, our garden is bursting with seasonal goodness. You can taste the difference that home-grown produce makes!
Starting from this year, we’re excited to grow strawberries, celery, mangold, salads, zucchini, and tomatoes in our two large permaculture gardens, known for their rich, fertile soil. Additionally, we have an assortment of berry bushes, including blueberries, red currants, black currants, and white currants, all waiting for you to pick and enjoy.
Our goal with the garden is simple yet meaningful: to provide the center with healthy, home-grown produce while also preserving some of our harvest for the winter months.
Stay with Us
We have a small apartment within our house that features its own private entrance. This space is available for rent to friends, family, members of Ananda Marga seeking a sentient holiday, or anyone wishing to experience the charm and beauty of Italy.
The apartment includes an upstairs bedroom with a sofa bed with two comfortable beds and the option of adding another bed. A staircase from the bedroom leads down to the lower level, where you’ll find a simple kitchen equipped with basic amenities. Adjacent to the kitchen is a cozy out door dining area, perfect for enjoying meals beneath elegant arched brick ceilings.

Adjacent to the eating area, you find the quite newly renovated bathroom with shower. Just outside the door you can enjoy the small sundeck/veranda where there is also a dining table with four chairs. This apartment is quite small but very comfortable with a lovely outside seating area and direct access to the garden and nature around.

Uma Nilayam is situated right between Rome and Florence. So if you rent a car you can do day-trips to the big cities, see all the beautiful tourist attractions and then come back to the peace and quiet of Uma Nilayam. Assisi, where St. Francis of Assisi worked and lived is only 40 minutes away with an offering of beautiful churches, ancient villages and a special atmosphere.
If you like water, we have two big lakes with swimming beaches near by. It takes between 30-40 minutes to drive to them. Perhaps you have heard of the famous hot springs of Italy? The ones that the Romans took bath in and regained new energy through their mineral rich, healing waters? We have a natural rock spring (terme) just 20 minutes from the house. Perfect place to go for a soak after a full day of being a tourist.
There are also some really nice hikes starting from the house, passing by small stone villages and rolling hills of olive tree plantations. You can choose from longer ones or just a short hike. Fabro is the nearest village, a 20 min walk, where you find supermarkets, cafes, banks, train station etc.
