Our Gardens
Nourishing & Healing
Spanning 6,000 square meters around our Uma Nilayam Meditation Center, our garden nourishes our body and helps our healing. From fresh kitchen harvests to medicinal herbs and abundant fruit, every plant contributes to meals and natural remedies.
Our Garden Vision: Expanding these gardens toward full self-sustainability using nature’s abundance to support retreats, volunteers, and our Neohumanist mission of caring for the earth, animals and humans.
Kitchen Garden
Mother Earth’s pharmacy grows steps from our kitchen for teas, salves, and balms that we also use in our Natural Cosmetics.

Olive Grove & Fruit Orchard
Eight olive trees yield ~15 liters of olive oil annually. The garden also gives us cherries, apples, pears, figs, peaches, plums, pomegranates and grapes.

Our Ceramic Studio
Open to retreat guests, sanctuary stays, and volunteers
Welcome to Uma Nilayam’s ceramics studio, a therapeutic space where hands meet clay to quiet the mind and spark creativity.
Whether during a retreat or long-term volunteering, working with clay teaches patience and presence, also necessary qualities for meditation practice.
Hands-on Workshops
Coiling, painting, carving, hand-building and glazing alongside experienced teachers.
Therapeutic Process
Feel mental tension melt as you work with the clay, learning how true transformation needs steadiness, care and time.
Guests and volunteers
Guests and volunteers can use the studio during free afternoons after a simple orientation of the studio and materials.

Our Natural Cosmetics Laboratory
Healthy for the environment and healthy for ourselves.
